Kurs

So, as I have written about briefly earlier, I am taking a German Language course in Konstanz, Germany. It is Monday - Friday from 2-5:15pm, and about a 20min bike ride from my place.
What is interesting (and rather challenging at first) is that the class operates in German. So far I think it is going rather well, and is going at about the right speed for me to still train and race around the class and homework. I’ve been a little frustrated in class since a few of the Russian speaking students have been creating Russian banter. This, while concentrating on the German instruction in class, is especially distracting. I might not normally complain, but in this case it is also especially annoying because the banter is mainly one student (Igor, aus der Ukraine) explaining the class work to another student (Emil, aus der Republik Moldau) in Russian, only Emil hasn’t bothered to show up to class the last three days. Meanwhile, he is already two steps behind due to disinterest and some sort of “too manly to learn German” attitude… It is becoming apparent that Emil is in the class because he has to be, not because he wants to be.
On the topic of class complaints, This same student, Igor, has a habit of somehow hijacking my questions (in German). He appears to have some command of German language, and is eager to interject anything he can all the time at the expense of anything and everything. Someone else’s understanding, the momentum of the class, etc… The problem is that his annunciation sounds as if he recently swallowed a live mouse, who’s tail continues to interfere with the closing of his epiglottis, and hind legs scratching and clawing at the back of his throat prevent him from properly moving his tongue.
Hack-Hack.
Going to Dijon this weekend. We’ll see how racing goes.
