Clinic Details!!!
Posted on March 26, 2008
I am sorry to have to announce this so last minute, but with the weather being so unpredictable lately and me leaving soon, I am happy to finally announce:
The 2008 Pre-Outdoor Season Technical Tune-Up Clinic.
As many of you may already know, I have confirmed a spot on a European Pro team for the 2008 Inline season; Subaru X-Tech, and will depart for Switzerland/Germany for the entire season very soon. I leave April 9th, and between now and then I have a major paper due, as well as five exams to complete at York University (the first is tomorrow). With the help and support of the Toronto Inline Skating Club and its members, I am hoping to use this clinic as a fundraiser for my trip overseas. I would greatly appreciate the help and attendance of club members!!! So, here are the ‘need to know’ details:
Location: Christ the King Catholic School – 200m Track
(3674 Lakeshore Boulevard West
Etobicoke, Ontario M8W 1N6)
Google Maps Link
Date: Saturday, March 29, 2008
Time: 10:30am - 5:00pm (45 minute lunch break)
Structure: The basis of this clinic will primarily be video analysis.
Following the morning session of dry land explanation and corrections, each skater will be
formally videoed and this video will be analysed immediately afterwards in a group setting at the track site.
This will be followed by specific drills/practice for the immediate needs of each skater, followed by a re-
shooting of the video, and another analysis.
I will also make the video segments for each skater available to them after the clinic.
Price: $40 per person (minimum donation)
The weather forecast is currently predicting clear skies, and a high of 4 degrees; the same as today. I was at the track today for several hours preparing the pavement, and in the afternoon it was actually quite nice and comfortable. I was shovelling snow in just a T-shirt! Regardless, I urge you all to bring warm clothes, jackets, scarves, hats gloves etc. to stay warm during the video analysis portion of the clinic. Chairs and blankets will be great to have also. Also, be prepared with warm skating gear (preferably tight for the video), and running shoes + sweats for the dry land portion. Also, you will need to feed yourselves during the 45 minute lunch, but there are many restaurants in the area, as well as a “No Frills” Supermarket that serves a prepared meals menu right next to the track.
Hope to see you there!
-Aaron.

Clinic is on!!!!!
Posted on March 26, 2008
So, I was just at Crhist the King, took a look at the track, and the weather forcast, and I am optimistic that the conditions will allow for the Video Analysis Speed Skating Clinic to take place on the track this Saturday.
I am on my way down there now for some clean-up, and will report back in a few hours.

They spelled my name wrong… I hope it isn’t that way in the registration… I they might be taking the whole ‘Double A’ things a bit far. At this rate, it’s ‘Quadruple A’. …’A Cubed?’

Long ride: few pics…
Posted on March 19, 2008
Last weekend saw a late winter 125km road ride. These pics were taken at the Midway point in Belwood, Ontario. It is actually quite pretty.
View from the bridge over the mouth of the river at the lake…
Notice the snowmobile tracks…

It looks like the start of the second half of the ride will start with a slight uphill…
Big ups for Jacky Shu for completing the ride, and many thanks for keeping me entertained!

Interview
Posted on March 11, 2008
Just a brief post to link to Andrew Kraft’s Interview of me!
Hehe, it is almost unedited, and I think it’s really different than a traditional/usual skater interivew. Haha, I re-read it, and I think some of the more ‘outspoken’ comments are kind of funny. Well, they make me laugh anyway.
I will write a bit more about it, but I hope you all can take some time to read it.
As a bit of a teaser, take a look at this picture I sent Andrew to help explain some of the content of the interview:

Jonathan Webster (far right) slings off Columbian in the 500m final. Derek Downing (front, left) looks on as eventual winner. You can see me at the back…
1997 Pan American Chamiponships,
Quito, Ecuador.
I will probably post portions of the interview myself someday soon.
