Yesterday was hot…

Ladies and Gentlemen!!!
We have a Giro!
I’m not about to write much else today, the Giro was just too good not to watch closely. One question: was Sella on a short term Astana contract today (?), or is CSF just looking to kill the excitement of the GC? Di Luca is the man. Rico almost squeeks into pink… what a race.
I leave for Germany tomorrow for some racing… Stay posted for a good result.
Just thought I would post the current GBC overall standings. I am sitting in 6th right now amongst some good names.
I’ll write more after training….
GBC Individual overall
1. Ferre Spruyt Orana Race Team
2. Nicolas Zamudio Powerslide Phuzion International
3. Felix Rijhnen Powerslide Phuzion International

“Aaron Time”
Posted on May 29, 2008
What’s Up?
Well, I guess I spent just about all that “Aaron time” I thought I would have training. However, I did find time to properly move into my flat, furnish it, get organized, and connect to the internet. So, now (as of yesterday (100% Dundee)), I have no excuses but to maintain this site. :)
Now I bet you all can hardly wait but to start reading.
I just got back from buying my tickets for this weekend. I am looking forward to what I think will be a good race for me. Stay tuned. I also just registered for a German language course that starts Monday. I am kind of excited about it. I already have my books. The course is 20 hours/week, so it is a rather large commitment to make and add to my schedule. Who knows, in a few weeks or so, I may post auf Deutsch. That’s kind of a big one, anyway.
I’ve also had some time to train properly on the road. I am feeling my road form again, and it is starting to carry over to the track, only that’s a tough one for me. I feel good on my skates, but I am in need of some new boots. While I am skating quite well for me on the track these days, I certainly don’t shine amongst the company here. I have to say that my sprints are coming along, and I think I went ok in the points race last night… I just don’t seem to have the same ease through the corners the better track skaters seem to. Still working though.
It’s just tough to catch up when the others aren’t about to sit up and wait. Through the season, with their sights set on World Championships, ‘getting races’, and quite a few with legitimate ambitions of world titles, everyone is looking to step up, and in a big way. That has its +’s and –‘s in a training group for someone in my position.
I am feeling good on the bike here too. I’m still not a top class climber in the mountains (strength:weight), but I think my form on the flats is better than laughable.
So, I found some time to catch up with the blogs of the Toronto scene. Haha, I am sure you bloggers can find if you look into your account/viewership trackings. It’s a different world here, man. A different sport, really. I’m sure you can imagine, my perspective is always a little different, but in some ways, that difference is striking. Some comments are pretty outrageous though. :) I really do miss you guys.
Did Michael Cole ever make it back to a skate practice? I really hope he can enjoy the sport (skating) again. …I think his blog might be my favourite by the way. If you haven’t checked it out: http://sk8terdreams.blogspot.com/ It’s just always got a real gem or two in every post. :)
And to all the TISC skaters: Good luck and have fun at Provincials this weekend. Make the racing exciting. What track are Provincials and Nationals on?
Actually, I am really interested in what’s going on with the world team this year. I’ll be making my way to Gijon from here if everything goes to plan. I would just like to know who’s going as the team.
If you ever want to see what this sport really is, you should consider going even if it is just to watch.
I started writing a report on a few of the races, I’ll get to them.
Pictures? Henry’s (a camera store) has my camera in their repair shop, and they never got it back to me.

Mission Impossible: Catch up…
Posted on May 13, 2008
Hey yo.
Friends and Family here are some brief updates:
Raced a track series, went ok in the 500’s, still didn’t make the final, but was quite close.
Raced an uphill 4km race on Saturday. It was nuts. For some reason, Ruben Martinez went crazy, and attacked the whole hill (only to get ‘rolled’ in the last 100m or so). I had trouble staying motivated through some of the ~15% grade sections, but I think I did ‘ok’. I was near the front anyway.
Did a 65km road skate yesterday with a pack that had about 50 skaters from several nations. That was alot of fun.
Racing in the Netherlands this weekend (I’ve never been). Wondering how close it is to Amsterdam… ???
Still in the process of locking down a long term place.
Wrote an exerpt about the Regensburg race, but really haven’t had time to write anything properly. I am really out of practice. Cool race though.
Here are some pics:

Dominik: I really need a new helmet. Frankly, I can’t wait to get it. :)
Gotta cut this short. When I am in a place where I can actually sit down, I should get back to this properly. It’s just taking a lot of time.

Regensburg
Posted on May 8, 2008
Hey all…
I’ve been “next level” busy, but I thought i would just post a quick note to say that I was third in the top class GBC marathon in Regensburg! I was in the last attack that started with about 9, widdled down to 7, and I was third in the sprint, with Mauro just ahead of me in second.
I think we really should have won. Anyway, there are a bunch that follow this wbsite, but not other skating websites, and wanted to let everyone know that I climbed on the podium last weekend in one of the most important races of my season!!! (we) Subaru X-Tech won the team points overall, and it looks like the team title will be a tight competition. Things should be interesting.
Gotta get back nto things, but when I finally get settled, I will be able to get back to this site properly. I am looking forward to it. :)
