oh yeah, and…

So I hopped on because I had a quick second to post… happened to re-read my last post, and its confusing.  I certainly did not un0cliip, though I seemed to write as though I did.  I made it to the top without clipping out.  It was wet, that didn’t help.  anyway, thereal reason I came on was to post:

July

Posted on July 11, 2010

July is tour month.  And well, sooo good.  (I picked up massive points today in fantasy tour.)

Anyway, I’ve been riding a lot lately. I’ve got a great climb for anyone willing to go find it.  It’s a tough one  Here: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/437013

It’s not the steepest, nor the longest. Actually, quite far from either. It’s just tough and technical. Bonus props for those that don’t unclip. I did, with an 11-23.  Then climbed old McLaren, and the Caledon Ski Club section of Mississauga Rd.  Still managed to avg. over 31.  :P  Been riding with my cpu a little again. More on that soonish.  Funny, how a little number can motivate on a solo ride…

Tour Tour Tour…

Posted on June 24, 2010

Is it possible to be more excited about the Tour starting in just 10 days (Saturday July, 3)?  I can’t even begin to talk about how many legit contenders are lining up in Rotterdam.  Hopefully there will be enough marking the top of the GC leaderboard to bait Contador & Co… but can anyone unthrown him from the Pyrenees? Stage 17 should be simply epic… two cat 1’s into the Toumalet?   …for the second time of the tour?  man.

Anyway, I came on because I just plotted the route I am riding tomorrow…  http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Aaron-s-Place-Brampton-to-Sauble-Beach

I’ve been riding without a computer for about a year now (take that, gear-heads) but it was a treat when someone from a ride a few weeks ago sent me this info from a recent mid-week ride: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/37250385

Nothing remarkable, but the data is pretty cool.  It almost makes me want to ride with a computer.  …Almost.

Anyway,
Train hard.

Giro 2010~~

Ok ok ok…

The Giro is already underway with a wiggo in pink after the prologue, and already it is incredibly exciting.

I think May is shut down.

Horner wins huge in Spain!  Way to go Chris!  That was so awesome.

Plus, Cancellara is super-human.  Riding the other classics-favourites off his wheel in the flats was, well; embarrasing.  Ouch.

That guy is on another level.  For me though, the news is Horner’s big GC win in Baske Country.  I knew he could do it, though Valverde kept it close.  What a finish.  Chris, I am your biggest fan.  You’re already on my tour start-list.

Anyway, planning to do.

Cycling Fan

Ok, there is so much good stuff going on in pro cycling right now.  With PR this weekend, which could see another Boonen-Cacellara showdown, can I just say that it isn’t a given that Valverde will beat my favourite pro rider Chris Horner in the 22k ITT tomorrow?  Valverde’s got a 1sec buffer over Horner to keep the GC for Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco in Spain.

Anyway, I have to admit that I will be rooting for the very serious underdog in this one.

Stay tuned for video links for Paris-Roubaix…

Moved, among other things…

Posted on April 6, 2010

So, I moved.  …again.  I no longer live in Hamilton.  It was pretty sweet while it lasted, and I am still surprised how much I liked it there.  Some of the riding out that way is fantastic, and the one-ways in the downtown core were fun to ride and skate on.  I’ll miss that, but also the Niagara Escarpment being 300m from my front door.  It offered some really great terrain, including a few good climbs through the Royal Botanical Gardens, which have blooming flowers far earlier in the sprint than I imagined.

Anyway, I am now teaching full-time in a grade 5 class, and planning and documenting my planning is consuming most of my time.  I do hope to get onto the bike more and more, and to shed a few, and get fit again.

Anyway, thought I would update a little to let people know my insides are still ticking.

The cycling season is already under way both in the pro ranks and locally.  …though I have to be honest and say that the pros are getting more of my attention.  Flanders was amazing.  I hope someone got online in time to see the live streaming video feed… accomanied by the eurosport audio feed, it was as good as being in europe.  …well, almost.

Anyway, Paris-Roubaix is the next big classic this Sunday.  I’ll post the video feed I get on here that morning.  The ones that come up last are usually the best anyway.

Till then,

A.

PS: Boonen looks to be on solid classics form, think he’ll end up on the podium?  …again?
